Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu? Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art that focuses on ground fighting. It utilizes locks and holds to subdue an opponent, and is often considered a very effective form of self-defense. BJJ has gained in popularity in recent years, and can be found in many MMA (mixed martial arts) competitions. Tupelo Jiu Jitsu Academy has the highest ranked Jiu Jitsu players in the area. We have over 100 adults practicing Jiu Jitsu in Tupelo MS!
Mixed Martial Arts is a full contact sport which combines techniques from various martial arts disciplines such as Boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, and Muay Thai. The purpose of the sport is to allow athletes to defeat their opponents through a variety of methods, including striking and grappling. We train Amateur and Professional Fighters and have competed in some of the largest events in the country such as StrikeForce and Bellator!
Submission wrestling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu are both martial arts that rely on using submissions to gain an advantage over an opponent. The main difference between the two is that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu typically requires a Gi (uniform), while submission wrestling does not. This means that in submission wrestling, fighters can wear whatever they want, while in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, the Gi provides more grip and control. We specialize in (no gi) Submission Wrestling!
We have more than Martial Arts. Our fitness kickboxing classes are a great way to get in shape and have fun! We teach techniques and combinations of punches and kicks to help you burn calories and tone your body. Our classes are beginner-friendly and can be modified to fit any fitness level.
